Terraced Garden
Golders Green NW11
Our first visit to this garden revealed a dark, dank and slightly dangerous site. The dominating factor for this project was the 4m drop from the back of the house to the rear of the garden. Our brief was to create a garden with plenty of useable space for our client to entertain and to enjoy gardening in.
The terrace adjacent to the house is a substantial Cedar deck with room for a sizeable dining table and sun loungers. A balustrade of yachting wire keeps the views as open and light and as possible, maximising the sense of elevation. The timber staircase is wide with a couple of generous landings to ease the transition to the lower lounge terrace. A couple of steps down from there is a small lawn enclosed with full planting.
Our client is delighted with the result and can now use the entire garden. We believe we have made an asset of the extreme level change that formally overshadowed the space and created a light, open and attractive garden.
