In this small, family garden our brief was to integrate the new kitchen extension with the existing garden. The interior floor level of the new room has been lowered to provide a decent ceiling height and this has meant that we have needed to drop a section of the garden to accommodate this. 

 

The lovely Crittal style doors open out onto the lowered courtyard with a suspended Oak bench against the brick retaining wall. Comfortable steps of brick paver edged with metal gently lead up to a small clay paver terrace and then up again to meet the lawn and mature Apple tree.

 

It was our intention that the many level changes in this small garden would feel easy and relaxed and that the garden and the new living space would feel very connected.
