Family Play Garden

Brockley SE4

Once blighted by a huge and dangerous Eucalyptus tree, this garden now caters for the whole family. The three little girls find many opportunities for imaginative play woven through the pretty planting and their parents can now relax on an open terrace that catches the sun throughout the afternoon and evening.

The garden is now full of light and life and three wildlife friendly trees have been planted to provide spring blossom, fruit and autumn colour.  The old tree lives on as informal log seats and stepping stones. On one side, a bridge linking an elevated play house with a timber platform sails over a bank of Eucalyptus blocks, all inter-planted with grasses and wild strawberries.

A dining terrace for family entertaining has been located within easy reach of the kitchen and a large lawn, retained for informal games, is surrounded by generous borders of flowering shrubs and perennials.
